How to learn piano faster. So you want to learn how to play the piano but never tried because everybody tells you it is difficult to learn? But that is not entirely true. If you want to play the piano, you can learn it in a very short time.

You do not need to become the next Richard Clayderman to be able to play the piano and to understand music. If you want to play the classical pieces of Beethoven by reading from a sheet, now that is not easy.

But if you want to play a song you heard on the piano, there are only a few steps to get to that stage. Here we are going to take a look at how to learn piano faster so you can play all the pieces you want.

Piano

Quick and Easy

To start learning to play the piano, you need to know the layout of the keys on the keyboard of the piano. If you stand in front of a piano, there is anything from 88 to 101 white and black keys in front of you.

If you put your finger on one of the black keys, they will make a sound, and the same goes for the white keys. But the sound will only come from it if you kind of hammer down on it, not just put your finger on it.

And if you press down on every key that is in front of you, they will all make a different sound. Now that makes it even easier than you could have thought, because if you need a specific sound, just find the right key.

Another easy thing about the piano is that if you look at the keyboard, you will see a pattern of 12 keys repeating itself. This section of 12 keys just repeats themselves over and over from left to right all over the piano’s keyboard.

Finding the Notes

If you zoom into one of these sections of 12 keys, you will find a section of 7 white and 5 black keys. If you look closely, you will find 2 black keys and then again 3 black keys, and these make up the 5 black keys.

Look closely again, and you will find 7 white keys that surround these 5 black keys to form the group of 12 keys. Now you can start looking for the note names, and this is also quite easy to find.

Without exception, the white key just to the left of the 2 black keys in the group is always a C note. Starting with this C note going to the right, you play the white keys, and they are C, D, E, F, G, A, and B.

Piano

That is the complete alphabet of music, and as you will see, now you are again to the left of 2 black keys. And you know what that means, yes you are right, that is a C note again. See how easy to find the note?

What About the Black Keys?

The black keys are named after the white note that is next to them and has a sharp and flat in their name. So naturally, the black key next to the C will be a C sharp or B flat, but it does not really always work like that.

But for ease of use, let us keep it at that for now and concentrate on the names that are assigned to the keys. This way, you can work out the melody of a song very quickly and easily on the keyboard.

How To Play The Chords

To play a chord on a piano is just as easy as working out a melody on the keyboard. A chord is basically three notes that are played together at the same time, forming a harmonious sound from all three notes.

To create a chord, there is a formula that is applied, and that formula for major chords is four-three. That means if you want to play a C major chord, you take the C and count to four from there.

From C you go down the music alphabet counting white and black keys to the right C, C-sharp, D, D-sharp, E. And next is the three of the formula counting down from E, F, F-sharp, G, so C, E, and G are the notes of C major chord.

The formula for the minor chord is three-four, just the opposite of the major chord construction. So if you know the formula, you can simply build any major or minor chord and play it on the keyboard.

Where To Go From Here?

If you get this far, you will be able to become an accomplished musician without attending a very expensive music school. This is quite a significant accomplishment, and you need to keep on practicing what you achieved to become a great musician.

Anybody can sing, but not all will achieve greatness, and not all of us will be able to keep a perfect note. But if you love to sing along with the music, nothing can stop you from reaching that goal and more.

Conclusion

As you can see, it is not that difficult how to learn piano faster, and with determination, you can do it. It does not mean you will become a maestro overnight and start playing in concerts, but it is a start.

This will also help you not to be stuck with lessons of boring music theory and scales, which will come, but not now.
